He hosted the hit dance competition for the first 28 seasons it aired on ABC and was one of the reasons fans loved the show. However, he and his co-host Erin Andrews were fired from the show and replaced by television personality/model Tyra Banks. So far, Tyra has hosted the show for two seasons, but there have been many complaints about her hosting style. The 48-year-old businesswoman became a host through the influence of Andrew Llinares, who stepped down as producer after season 30.
Since the last season of the ABC dance competition aired, there have been lots of developments. Aside from the news that the show will be moving to Disney+ going forward, there has been much speculation about other arrangements. For example, reports indicated that Tyra might be replaced as the show's host ahead of season 31. The books in question include You Can't Go Home Again, Look Homeward, Angel and The Web and the Rock. While Tom's return is unlikely, one thing is sure: the TV host has switched to a new passion in his career. In November 2021, Tom talked about the revival of the game show Tic-Tac-Dough and said they're waiting to get an official greenlight from NBC. He's already filmed some episodes of the game show.
Getting Tom back on Dancing With The Stars will make many of the show's fans glad. It will also help it attain a different demographic of subscribers, which is one of the reasons for moving it to Disney+.
